CANDY GRAMS - On sale Today through December 12 at lunch in the hive. Candy grams are 75c each or 3 for $2.   They will be delivered in block 1 on December 13. 

Winter Warm Up - Leadership will be serving FREE hot chocolate before school in the main foyer on Monday December 12.  Bring your own mug! 

Holiday Spirit Week is happening next week:   Monday is PJ Day ,  Tuesday is Holiday Colours (gr 9 - Blue, gr 10 - Red, gr 11 - Green, gr 12 - White, Staff - Sparkles),   Wednesday is  Flannel/Plaid,  Thursday is  Holiday Accessories (Santa hats, antlers, Christmas bling) and on Friday it is Holiday Sweaters Day.

Grade 9 students were given their immunization consent forms and we ask that they be completed and signed  and  returned to the school office As Soon As Possible!

There are over 84  Diploma Verifications missing from the Grade 12’s.  Please hand in to the Career Centre ASAP!

Reminder that the Free Clothing Rack just outside the Textiles Room is full and students are able to help themselves ... Come on down!

Come JOIN THE STELLY’S KINDNESS DRIVE!  As a school until this Friday, December 9th we are collecting food, gently used winter clothes, gift cards and cash to help support families in our community.    More people are accessing Food Banks for support more than ever before.  If you can give, please do! Bring donations to your block 1 class, or to Ms Hackman in the Career Centre if you don't have a block 1 class.  Thank you!

The African AIDS Angel  Fundraiser is a creative charity event where you can purchase a kit to design your own angel ornament. The Social Justice Club will be hosting a crafting workshop on Wednesday, December 7th after school in the Textiles Room. To participate, please see Mrs. Wallace in Rm 30 to purchase your angel kit which is $6.00

Homework Help is available every morning from 7:15 am to 8:20 am in Room 46 and after school in the Learning Commons until 4 pm.

CAREER CENTRE

Discover UVic virtual information sessions are designed for prospective students to learn about all that the University of Victoria has to offer. We’ll cover topics from campus life and housing to hands-on learning and what it means to relocate to Victoria, Canada. Our next Discover UVic event is this upcoming Monday, December 12 at 4:00 p.m. PST.  More dates for January and February will be posted soon.

Parent Nights will guide parents and guardians on how to help their students succeed and thrive in their first year of university with a focus on strategies to navigate the transition from high school to university. Prospective students are welcome. The next session is scheduled for January 17 at 7:00 p.m. PST. 

One-on-one virtual Zoom meetings with students -  This spring, I will be offering one-on-one virtual Zoom appointments with students who have applied to UVic throughout the months of January – April. Students will receive an email invitation in the New Year. 

Entrance scholarships for domestic students - We will be awarding automatic grades-based entrance scholarships this year to domestic students and international students graduating with a Canadian secondary diploma who meet the following criteria (students must self-report their grades for eligibility):   

  -All domestic/international graduating with Canadian secondary diploma students: minimum 90% (32 IB points,     excluding bonus) $1,500+

   -Indigenous students: minimum 85% (30 IB points, excluding bonus) $1,500+

   -Women in Engineering and Computer Science students: 85% (30 IB points, excluding bonus) $1,000+

    -Indigenous Engineering and Computer Science students: 85% (30 IB points, excluding bonus) $4,000+

ENGL 115: University Writing and Research: An introduction to critical thinking and reading, academic writing, and research skills. Consistent with the conditions and expectations students encounter as readers and writers at university.  All sections include an in-class essay, a research essay, and a final examination.  Program runs Friday from 9:00 am to 11:30 am … February 2nd to June 23rd at ILC Saanichton.

ELC 110 (Early Learning & Care) - Dual Credit Pathway for High School Students beginning February 2023 at Camosun.  Program runs Friday afternoons from 3:00-6:00 on January 13th to April 14th at Camosun Interurban.

Health 111 (Indigenous Peoples Health) - Dual Credit Pathway for High School Students.  Beginning January 2023.  This Program runs virtually (Camosun) on Tuesdays from 6:00-9:00.  January 10th to April 11th onlineFor more information see your Career Teacher.  You need to be in English 12 now or you will have to write an English assessment!
