GENERAL SCHOOL NEWS

The Canadian Universities event is today at Claremont for those that have registered. It is from 1:00 to 2:45pm. Please meet in the front foyer for the bus at 1:00 sharp!

Leave your handprint for reconciliation! This week at lunch, students and staff are encouraged to make an orange handprint on the giant poster hanging in the front of the school. Please come be a part of this school wide reconciliation activity. On Friday, September 29th, please wear your orange shirts and be a part of our school orange shirt photo at lunchtime! 

For students who are registered to park in the school parking lot - thank you for submitting your paperwork. All vehicles need to be registered with the main office. Please do not park in any spots marked “Reserved” or “Visitor”.

EVENTS

School Garden Club is meeting today (Tuesdays and Thursdays) at lunch in room 40. Please see Mr. Siebert if you have any questions.

The Textile Arts Club is meeting on Tuesday and Thursday at lunch in the textiles room which will be open every Monday to Thursday for students to have lunch and create their projects.

Friday September 29th - Orange Shirt Day

Oct 2nd - National Day for Truth & Reconciliation (school is closed)

For any students interested in applying to American Universities, there is an information session at SMU October 3rd.  See Mr. Berger in the counselling offices area for more details.

It’s Grad Spirit Week! Today is tacky tourist day! Tomorrow, dress in your best Barbie and Ken outfits, then Thursday is Lumberjack day!

Scholarship meeting coming up on tomorrow, Wednesday September 27th at lunch time in the Learning Commons

CAREER CENTRE

Big Brothers and Big Sisters is looking for volunteers! A rep from the organization will be here Thursday, September 28th to talk about the opportunity as well as accept application forms that are available in the Career Centre NOW! Come fill one out and join us over the lunch break next Thursday to chat about connecting with a child as a mentor. 

Listen up! The Young Engagement Program (AKA YEP) is offering Foodsafe and First Aid training at a MASSIVE discount. These fun and interactive training programs are super handy life skills and look great on a resume. Register before it's too late! You must be a YEP member to participate but YEP membership is free. First come first served!

As always for all things careers, more information is posted on the career board, or you can always pop in and talk to Heidi or Katherine in the career centre!

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

The Cultural Orientation Session for International Students that was originally scheduled for today has been cancelled and will be rescheduled for a later date. Stay tuned!

There is a meeting on September 29th at lunch time in the Learning Commons for any International students participating in the whale watching field trip
