GENERAL SCHOOL NEWS

The Indigenous leadership class will be selling orange t-shirts in the main foyer today, Thursday, and Friday for Orange Shirt Day. The cost is $15.

The Social Justice and Vital Youth Club is starting today at lunch in room 30.  This club is for people who are interested in helping others and our world.  Come check it out!

Thursday September 26 is Cross Country's first race! All cross Country participants should meet in room 19 during lunch on Wednesday for important race information

For those students who signed up for the Fishing Club, and any others interested, we will be having our first meeting of the year today after school at 2:40 in Mr. Gillespie's room. All are welcome!

This Friday, all of our staff and students are encouraged to wear an Orange Shirt to honour the children who were sent away to Indian Residential Schools. At Stelly’s, we hold space in our classrooms and school for our students to learn more about Residential Schools and reflect on its continued impact. To learn more about Orange Shirt Day, please see this video previously created 4 years ago by Stelly’s Leadership students.

IMPORTANT DATES COMING UP

September 27 - Orange Shirt Day

September 30 - National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (school not in session)

October 8 - Parents Advisory Council Meeting at 6:30pm (in-person in the Learning Commons or virtually via MS Teams) - come on out and join in the discussion and decisions on how we’re going to support our students in their educational & extra-curricular paths.

GRAD 2025

Tonight, parents of 2025 Grads are invited to the Parent After Grad Meeting in the Learning Commons beginning at 7pm. This evening will kick off the planning for your students’ After Grad Event (which is run entirely by parent volunteers) following the (school-led) ceremony and dinner/dance.

ATHLETICS

Junior Boys Soccer Team have a game today at 3:30pm, happening at Centennial Park against Reynolds. Good luck Stingers!

Senior Boys Soccer team have a game tomorrow (Thursday) at Centennial Park, kickoff is at 3:30pm. Come out and cheer them on!

CAREER CENTRE

Did someone say PARTY? Yes, tomorrow, Thursday, September 26th there is going to be a Grand RE-opening party in the Career Centre! Come for a treat, learn about how the Careers team can help you succeed, meet Heidi and Katherine and enter the draw for an SD63 Careers hat! 

Are you wanting to land a part time job but don't have any skills to add to your resume? Volunteering is a perfect opportunity to build skills and serve the community. Right now Victoria Re-Stores has openings in the volunteer program where they train all sorts of skills.  

Police Camp 2025 is coming up! Police Camp is a leadership program connecting youth with officers for a one week over spring break full-on policing experience. 50 students from the Greater Victoria area work hard together, while having fun, learning what it's like to work as a police officer. Interested? Mark your calendars for Thursday, October 3rd for an info session in the Career Centre at lunch.
