GENERAL SCHOOL NEWS

This week on Thursday and Friday, the Social Studies department will be hosting a multi-media presentation about the Holodomor, a genocide in Ukraine in the 1930's. Students will be experiencing the presentation in their classes.  Senior students that do not have Social Studies until second semester are invited to attend, with teachers' permission, in block 4 on Thursday or block 3 or 4 on Friday.  Please see Mrs. Wallace in room 30 to sign up for this rare experience.

Thursday October 5th - The Culture Club will hold its first meeting at lunch-time in room 49.

Junior Boys Soccer Game today at Belmont at 3:30pm

Junior Girls Volleyball A Game at PCS at 4pm

Junior Girls Volleyball B Game at Reynolds at 4pm

There is a rowing practice at 4pm today

GRAD 2024

Grad Parents: There is a Dry After-Grad meeting this evening at 7pm in the Learning Commons. All parents of grads are welcome and encouraged to attend - there are volunteer roles to be filled. See you there! 

If you did not receive your Graduation Diploma Verification, please see the office to pick it up.

CAREER CENTRE

University of Victoria is currently accepting applications until October 7th for "TechU" - programs for high school students to get hands-on experience in tech, design and business, by designing their own product. Programs run Tuesday evenings from Oct 17-Dec 5.  Apply now!

A rep from Big Brothers Big Sisters will be here on Thursday, October 5th to answer all your questions about mentoring a child, as well as accepting applications. 

The Royal Canadian Navy is hosting "Sailor For A Day" on October 20th. Try a day in the life of a sailor! Limited spots available. Grades 9-12 welcome!

Thanks to all of you who have dropped off your applications for the The Young Engagement Program (AKA YEP). YEP is offering First Aid with CPR training for only $55 for YEP members. You must be a YEP member to participate but YEP membership is free. 

Field Trip alert! Are you interested in a career in Early Learning & Care AKA ELC? You should come on the field trip to Camosun on October 11th! This is a great way to learn more about the Health Care Programs offered at Camosun College. Permission forms are available now in the Career Centre and due October 5th. Still time to sign up. 

Police Camp 2024 is taking applications! Police Camp is a youth leadership program for Grade 10-12s which includes daily physical training, participation in day and night simulation activities, drill instruction and more! It's full on and a fantastic way to learn more about all things Police.

For all things careers, more information is posted on the career board, the Career Ed Website or you can always pop in and talk to Heidi or Katherine in the career centre!
