GENERAL SCHOOL NEWS
This week on Thursday and Friday, the Social Studies department will be hosting a multi-media presentation about the Holodomor, a genocide in Ukraine in the 1930's. Students will be experiencing the presentation in their classes. Senior students that do not have Social Studies until second semester are invited to attend, with teachers' permission, in block 4 on Thursday or block 3 or 4 on Friday. Please see Mrs. Wallace in room 30 to sign up for this rare experience.

For any students interested in applying to American Universities, there is an information session today at SMU. See Mr. Berger in the counselling office area for more details.
Grad Parents: There is a Dry After-Grad meeting Wednesday evening at 7pm in the Learning Commons. All parents of grads are welcome and encouraged to attend - there are volunteer roles to be filled. See you there!
CAREER CENTRE
The Victoria Genealogical Society is looking for a volunteer Social Media Coordinator. If you've considered working in communications, this is an awesome way to gain experience working for a cool organization while logging volunteer hours!
Big Brothers and Big Sisters is looking for volunteers! Have you ever considered mentoring a child? Need more info? A rep from BBBS will be here this Thursday, October 5th to answer all your questions and accept applications, which are available now in the Career Centre.
The Young Engagement Program (AKA YEP) is offering First Aid with CPR training for only $55 for YEP members. You must be a YEP member to participate but YEP membership is free.
Are you interested in a career in Early Learning & Care or ELC? Come on the field trip to Camosun on October 11th! This is a great way to learn more about the Health Care Programs offered at Camosun College. Permission forms are available now in the Career Centre and due October 5th.
Police Camp 2024 is taking applications! Police Camp is a youth leadership program for Grade 10-12s which includes daily physical training, participation in day and night simulation activities, drill instruction and more! It's full on and a fantastic way to learn more about all things Police. Please visit the career centre for an application.
