GENERAL SCHOOL NEWS

Stelly’s Leadership students are hosting a Spring Dance on May 9th with an 80’s theme! Tickets are $5 per person and available in the main foyer during lunch!

Join us this evening, May 6, 2024, for an opportunity to explore the Witness Blanket Exhibit. It will be open to the public from 4-7pm and in the Learning Commons at Stelly’s Secondary. 1627 Stelly’s Cross Road. For information about this exhibit, please see the attachment here.

For all students who use the field exit & entrance on Wallace Drive (at the back of the school): Please be advised that due to the active construction, we are asking for students and visitors to please follow the flaggers’ directions to ensure your safety. They will be directing foot traffic that is different from other days so please pay attention!

The next, and final, Coffee Concert is coming up on Wednesday May 22nd! Audition sign-ups begin this Wednesday, May 8th, and close on May 15th. There is more information on the sheet outside the band room. Please consider joining us - this evening will feature Alumni and Senior performers!

The BIPOC & Allies Club will share candy from Korea and Japan in the foyer tomorrow at lunchtime to celebrate Asian Heritage Month. See you then.

May 9 - “Back to the 80’s” Stelly’s Dance, 7-9:30pm (tickets on sale at lunch today, $5 each)

May 17 - Pro-D Day (school not in session)

May 20 - Victoria Day (school not in session)

May 21 - PAC Meeting (6:30pm in the Learning Commons). This will be the AGM and monthly meeting wrapped into one evening. Come join us for discussions around funding decisions and conversations on what has been happening and what is coming up at Stelly’s! Everyone is welcome!

We are still missing quite a few Grad forms - if you have not brought yours in and/or completed them online through Grad Google Classroom, please do so immediately.

CAREER CENTRE

Have you considered working as a Health Care Support Worker? Broadmead Care is offering an exciting program where you can earn while you learn - alternating between job experience and completing the Health Care Assistant program. You earn $25 an hour while you work and get paid $930 a week while you attend the Health Care Assistant Program. And - tuition and all costs associated with your training are paid through the program! More information can be found HERE.

Silver Rill farm on Central Saanich Road is hiring market workers, berry pickers and field workers! 

The Youth Engagement Program aka "YEP" is offering a Foodsafe Certification Level 1 Training. Cost is $60 for YEP students and $120 for non-YEP students). It's happening Saturday, June 8th from 9am - 4:30pm. Register now! 

Looking to volunteer? The Northridge PAC is currently planning a Fun Fair May 31st and are looking for high school students to help out with face painting, games, and activities! The shift runs 4-9pm and is sure to be a fun time. Come lend you skills!

COMING UP THIS WEDNESDAY:  COPACS is pleased to host a virtual information session on the topic of SOGI 123 for parent/guardians, students, and staff of the Saanich School District. Leading this presentation will be Dutch, Regional Manager of SOGI 123 and Micha Oak from LGBTQ Corporate Training. The focus will be on understanding the role of SOGI 123 as a resource for education and how to be a good ally in our schools and community. In addition, topics such as 2SLGBTQ+ 101, what to say, what not to say, learning about where anti-SOGI pushback is coming from, and how to support our youth.
