GENERAL SCHOOL NEWS

The next, and final, Coffee Concert is coming up on Wednesday May 22nd! Doors open at 6:30, the show starts at 7pm! Entrance is by donation. Please come out and support Stelly’s students - this evening will feature Alumni and Senior performers!

Stelly’s Spring Store 2024 is open now! Order your school swag before it’s too late! Ordering closes on May 23rd at 11:59pm - no late orders will be accepted. Visit store.passionsports.ca/stellysspring24

Bayside Big Band and Stelly’s Jazz Band are coming together to put on a performance at HEL,HILEȻ Park on Thursday May 30th starting at 7pm until sometime after 8pm. Both bands will perform and then members will join ranks and play a couple of tunes together. This will be a fun show - hopefully the weather will cooperate. Please come out with your chairs and support the bands at JAZZ IN THE PARK!

For parents: If you have not yet paid your students’ school fees, please log in to the payment system (linked here) to check on your students’ account status. Things like sports fees, field trips, curricular work books and lunch cards are available to pay online. If you have any questions, please contact our accounts person at dyouell@saanichschools.ca.

May 17 - Pro-D Day (school not in session)

May 20 - Victoria Day (school not in session)

May 21 - Mandatory Grad rehearsal at lunch in the large gym

May 21 - PAC Meeting (6:30pm in the Learning Commons). This will be the AGM and monthly meeting wrapped into one evening. Come join us for discussions around funding decisions and conversations on what has been happening and what is coming up at Stelly’s! Everyone is welcome!

May 23 - Mandatory Grad rehearsal at UVic - if you are attending the Grad ceremony on June 27th, you MUST attend this rehearsal. Buses leave at 8:30 and will be back to Stelly’s around 12:30.

Congratulations to the Senior Girls Soccer team who tied for 5th in the Islands! Go Stingers!

GRAD 2024

Attention Grads! There are still over 50 grads who are missing something required. Please check the list in the Grad Google Classroom or posted outside the Counselling Office for your student number. If it’s there, please go see Mrs. Pryer in the office.

Stelly’s After Grad Parent Committee is all set up to take your metal recycling from May 6th to 20th! There is a bin in our parking lot (along Stelly’s X Rd) where items can be dropped into any time of the day. If you have larger items that you’d like to donate and need a pickup, please contact Brentwood Auto & Metal Recyclers and tell them it’s for the Stelly’s Grad Fundraiser. Thank you for your support!

There are 2 mandatory Grad rehearsals coming up next week - make sure you are there!

  • Tuesday May 21st at lunchtime in the large gym
  • Thursday May 23rd at UVic (bus will depart Stelly’s at approximately 8:30 and leave UVic around 12 noon to return to Stelly’s)

CAREER CENTRE

Funding For Life Society needs volunteers at their event next Saturday, May 25th at the Saanich Fairgrounds. Do you have skills behind the grill? They're looking for someone to BBQ burgers and others to help out around the event. The event runs 12pm-3pm. For more information, please email Gail: gail@fundingforlife.ca

Volunteers are needed at the Brentwood Bay festival! Come lend a hand helping to lead kids through art activities and take home crafts. The event takes place on Saturday June 1st and the event includes a pancake breakfast, parade, and heaps of fun. To register, email: yep@beaconcs.ca

Another opportunity to volunteer is the Access Awareness Day - an event aimed to inform and inspire accessibility and inclusion for all! Help is needed with set up, take down and serving of coffee and cookies. This event is also happening Saturday, June 1st. Please email: yep@beaconcs.ca to register to volunteer. 

Canwest Flight Services is hiring baggage handlers at the YYJ airport. Earn $19.25 an hour to start. Duties include unloading and loading luggage, marshalling aircraft and aircraft interior grooming. Must be ok to work in all kinds of weather and able to lift 50 pounds continuously. Email your resume and cover letter to Gary at: canwest_yyj@telus.net

SISP INTERNATIONAL PROGRAM STUDENTS
