GENERAL SCHOOL NEWS

This PRIDE month, did you know that:

  • In 1971, hundreds of people gathered in Ottawa for what was considered the first gay rights protest in Canadian history.
  • The first coordinated Pride celebrations happened during Pride Week in 1973— which included events in Vancouver, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Saskatoon, and Winnipeg. People held picnics, dances, and film screenings. This is considered the start of Pride celebrations in Canada!

Indigenous Leadership and GSA will be selling PRIDE hoodies on Mondays for the month of June during lunch in the counselling foyer - while supplies last!

The Stelly’s Senior Drama group is excited to present: Puffs, or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic! June 5th-7th at 7pm & June 8th at 1pm. Tickets now available at Stelly's front office during school hours, or email abartlett@saanichschools.ca to reserve! Tickets are $10 each. For information on the show, please visit https://sites.google.com/sd63.bc.ca/stellys-performing-arts/home

Come out and join Stelly’s students in the Amphitheatre who will be putting on a concert on Wednesday June 5th during the lunch break. BBQ Burgers, salads & ice cream cones will be sold through the cafeteria (order inside, get a ticket & redeem outside at BBQ). Enjoy your lunch with a Rock concert featuring ‘Tell a Friend’ starting at 11:15am!

Have you checked the lost and found table lately? It’s just outside the Career Centre and things keep piling up! Please have a look and see if you recognize something then take it home. All items left at the end of June will be donated to a local charity.

The school is buzzing with activity as we approach the last few weeks of school. Please keep up to date by reading the daily announcements, checking your Google classroom, reading the weekly family update from Ms. Paas, and checking Instagram (@sd63stellys).
