GENERAL SCHOOL NEWS
This PRIDE month, did you know that:
- The #Pride flag was commissioned by San Francisco city supervisor Harvey Milk – one of the first openly gay elected officials in the US – to make a flag for the city’s upcoming Pride celebrations.
- Montreal held its first Pride march in 1979, on the tenth anniversary of the Stonewall riots. Today, Montreal Pride is attended by millions and is now one of the largest Pride celebrations in the francophone world.
We are celebrating National Indigenous Peoples Day at Stelly's today.
Indian Tacos for sale in the Amphitheatre at Lunch. $5 for a piece of yummy fry bread covered in taco fixings.
In the afternoon, we will be playing bone games on the back field. Classes are invited to sign up for a time, but any students on a spare are welcome to join at any time.
There will be a Spain/Portugal meeting in room 49 on Tuesday, June 18th at lunch hour. All students who are going, or any students who are interested in going, should attend this meeting. See you on the 18th!
An Evening of Performing Arts will be on Tuesday, June 18. Performances from Intermediate/Advanced dance, Junior Musical Theatre and Stelly's musicians! Doors open at 6:30, the show starts at 7pm! Tickets are $5 at the door.

June 21 - Curriculum completion 8:30am to 11:15am; Block 3 12:00pm to 2:35pm
June 24 - Curriculum completion 8:30am to 11:30am; Block 4 12:15pm to 3:05pm
GRAD 2024 Important information…please read & mark your calendars!
There’s still time to get your 50/50 tickets in support of the 2024 Grads! The parent planning committee has a final draw to help raise money for the students’ After Grad! The draw will be done live at their meeting on Wednesday, June 19th! Help support the students’ After Grad by purchasing your 50/50 tickets online here!

Grads, if you’re planning on attending the Dry After Grad, your $20 payment is now due. Please e-transfer (stellysgrad24@gmail.com). If you have also been notified of an authorized guest, their payment is also due. Please include yours and your guests’ names in the memo field. Cash payments can also be made in person during the clothing drop off times.
The casual clothing drop off dates/times are as follows:

Grad Tickets:
Due to high demand, the Graduate Recognition Ceremony tickets are now sold out, however, parents are welcome to follow up with UVic closer to, or on, the 27th to see if there are any extras available. They can be reached at 250-721-8480.

Work Experience - If you haven't handed in your Work Experience booklet yet (you know you are) get them in by today!
Looking for a summer job? Songhees Nation is seeking 2 summer camp coordinators and 4 student youth leaders for the upcoming season. These are both paid positions. Check the poster on the Career Board for more information! Also,the Sidney Pier Hotel Hotel is looking for housekeepers and Peninsula Co-op is seeking a gas attendant.
Silver Rill is hiring market workers, Starbucks is looking for baristas, Barr Yacht services is looking for yacht detailers, Riva is looking for dishwashers and delivery drivers, Red Barn Market is looking for a meat clerk and the Surley Mermaid is seeking kitchen help.
Looking to volunteer? The Youth Engagement Program is looking for help for the Sidney Canada Day events on Monday July 1st! From handing out candy in the parade to helping flip pancakes at the annual breakfast at the Mary Winspear to helping with the big event at Iroquois Park - there are lots of fun opportunities to be had!
