GENERAL SCHOOL NEWS
Looking to learn or improve your French? The Explore program is a 3–5-week intensive French-immersion travel experience during the summer. All tuition fees, lodging, meals, instructional materials, and cultural activities for this amazing program are covered by the Canadian government. Please see Mme Lobb for more information. The deadline to apply is February 6th.
Semester 1 Textbooks - we are asking all students to look through their school bag, locker and room for any semester 1 textbooks and return them to the Learning Commons - our semester 2 classes are in desperate need of these!
We are looking for Breakfast Club volunteers on Tuesday mornings from 7:25am to about 8:40am. Please contact Chantal to volunteer or for further information: ilovespices@yahoo.ca

ATHLETICS
Congratulations to the Senior Boys Basketball team and their 2 senior players, Ethan Graw and Kaelem Ruiz, as they hosted Esquimalt on Thursday night. The boys rolled to an easy win beating Esquimalt by a score of 96-32! Wish the team luck as they travel to Sooke Tuesday where they can lock up a spot at Island championships with a victory against Edward Milne Community School.
The Junior Girls Basketball team is playing a game at St. Andrews this evening at 5:45pm. Go Stingers!
Are you interested in playing basketball with your friends? If so, 3 vs 3 basketball intramurals are starting January 31st! Sign-up sheets are now outside the big gym on the bulletin board, so go grab 4-5 friends and secure your spot. There are limited team openings, so only the first eight teams to sign up will be included in the competition. Good luck!
GRAD 2024
Have you had your Grad photos taken yet? If not, there is an opportunity coming up January 29th to 31st. These dates are set aside for those grads who have not yet had their photos taken. To book your session, please visit https://schedule.prestigeportraits.ca/schedule/home.html. Please remember to enter Saanichton as the city.
If you are interested in Grad photo retakes, you must contact Lifetouch directly by phone (1-236-700-6470) or email (qvarea@lifetouch.com) to book. Please include your name, school and reason for requesting retakes.

CAREER CENTRE
Field trip alert! PEMO or Peninsula Emergency Measures Association is hosting an open house at the Sidney Fire Hall in March. Date is still to be determined but it will be a day of learning what life is like working in emergency response and what career and volunteer opportunities are available. If you're interested, get your name on the list, the sign up sheet is in the Career Centre. More info to come, stay tuned!
Camosun is hosting a Student Service Fair at the Interurban Campus on February 13th from 5pm-7pm. This is a great chance to explore the range of services available and partake in some mini-tours of the facilities. Registration isn't required - just show up!
The 49th National Student Commonwealth Forum (NSCF) is happening April 28th - May 3rd 2024 in Ottawa. Grade 11's and 12's, if you're interested in Global Issues this is an awesome chance to become a Global Ambassador! This year's focus is Climate Change. Apply now!
