GENERAL SCHOOL NEWS

The Seussical performance is on tonight! Please walk, drive or bus here safely! The parking lot may be slushy and/or icy so please be mindful and walk slowly on your way in. Stay safe everyone! We look forward to seeing you, for what is now, opening night!

Stelly's senior musical theatre presents "Seussical" January 18th-21st. Tickets are $15 and available at the door as well as online using this link. We will also be selling tickets at lunchtime in the main foyer today, so stop by and get them while they last!

To all SENĆOŦEN students: there will be no classes this week or next due to assessment and exam weeks taking place.

Application for most Canadian Universities, including Uvic, for the Fall 2024 intake is quickly approaching on January 31, 2024. Please check your Grad Google Classroom for very important information on upcoming virtual sessions for those interested in attending UVic.

Please note the updated daily school schedule for the week of January 22nd as we will be running on a Copernican schedule. Check the school website for the daily schedules.

Thursday January 25th: Semester 1 Dance and Musical Theatre Classes present “An Evening of Performing Arts”! Doors open at 6:30pm, show starts at 7; Tickets are $5 and available at the door.

CAFETERIA CLOSURE: during the week of January 22nd to 26th, there will be no food service available. Please come to school prepared with snacks or lunch. We look forward to welcoming you all back to regular cafeteria service on Monday January 29th.

January 29 - Term 3 Begins

January 29-31 - Grad Photo Sessions (available for those students who have not yet had photos taken)

February 8 - Semester 1 report cards distributed electronically at 3pm

GRAD 2024

Have you had your Grad photos taken yet? If not, there is an opportunity coming up January 29th to 31st. These dates are set aside for those grads who have not yet had their photos taken. To book your session, please visit https://schedule.prestigeportraits.ca/schedule/home.html. Please remember to enter Saanichton as the city. 

If you are interested in Grad photo retakes, you must contact Lifetouch directly by phone (1-236-700-6470) or email (qvarea@lifetouch.com) to book. Please include your name, school and reason for requesting retakes. 

Are you interested in applying to UVic? Here are some upcoming important dates to note:

Destination UVic virtual sessions are designed for prospective international students to learn about why UVic education is a game-changer for international students. We’ll cover topics including international student supports at UVic, the affordability of living and learning in Victoria, the quality of life in Canada, and more. There will also be the opportunity to hear from current international students and recent alumni about their extraordinary journeys at UVic. There are Destination UVic events scheduled for January 19 at 9:00pm PST and January 23 at 5:00pm PST.

Students can visit Uvic's events webpage to register and find the most up-to-date information on our upcoming events. 

Stelly’s Parent After Grad meeting has been postponed - date is to yet be determined and will be communicated when known.

CAREER CENTRE

The 49th National Student Commonwealth Forum (NSCF) is happening April 28th - May 3rd 2024 in Ottawa. Grade 11's and 12's, if you're interested in Global Issues this is an awesome chance to become a Global Ambassador! This year's focus is Climate Change. Apply now!

Are you thinking about going to Camosun but have some questions? There is an online Connect With Camosun Info Session TONIGHT, January 16th,  from 6-7pm to learn more about Camosun, the application process and the supports available to students. Info available on the Camosun website.

Female identifying folks who are interested in Science - listen up! BC Children's Hospital is hosting a "Women In Science" Event happening on Thursday, February 8th. Join the event virtually by registering on the BC Children's Hospital website - registration closes on Sunday, January 21st.
