GENERAL SCHOOL NEWS

Today is Early dismissal Day. Students will be dismissed from class at 1:35pm in preparation of our Parent Course Selection Info Night.

TONIGHT we will host a parent course selection evening for our current grade 9-11 parents. This is an opportunity for parents to inform themselves to assist their children with course selections for the 2024-2025 school year.  The agenda is as follows:

5:00 - 5:45: Presentation of grade specific information (ie grad programs, post secondary requirements, career programs, ect.)

  • Grade 9 parents (students going into grade 10), please go to the Multi-Purpose Room
  • Grade 10 parents (students going into grade 11), please go to the Learning Commons
  • Grade 11 parents (students going into grade 12), please go to the Large Gym

5:45 - 7:30: Course specific information - a chance to ask questions to the departments/teachers of specific courses.  A map will be provided. There will be childminding available for those parents of young children.  Please consider joining us for the evening to have all your course selection questions answered.

Do you like to act, sing or dance? Sign up for our upcoming Spring Coffee Concert on March 6th! Signup sheet is outside the band room and sign ups close today, Wednesday the 21st!

Grade 12 French Immersion K - 12 Gift Exchange on Tuesday, February 27 from 5:30 - 7:00pm. Participating students should meet in the large gym.

The Coldest Night of the Year event is happening this Saturday, February 24th, in Downtown Victoria and our school is participating! If you’re interested, please go to Ms. Wallace’s room at lunch TODAY for more information. You can also contribute by visiting the CNOY website to sponsor our group. Any donations help!

Level one first aid course being offered for Indigenous students free of charge. Feb 22nd/23rd 8:30-2:30 in the Stelly's Learning Commons. Please see Doug or Kyle in the Cultural room to sign up.

Any students interested in going to Spain and Portugal next March, 2025, please go to an information meeting on Tuesday, February 27th at lunch in Ms Lizama's room 49.

February 23 - Mini Course Fair for students

February 28 - Pink Shirt - wear pink for anti-bullying day

February 29 - We Wear Black Day

February 29 - Grade 8 Course Selection Evening for parents (in person and virtual)

ATHLETICS

Jr boys rugby practice starts at 3 today

Sr boys rugby practice starts at 3 today

All girls rugby practices start at 1:45 today

Girls soccer tryouts will be Thursday February 22nd at 3:30pm at Centennial Park.

Junior Girls Volleyball Drop In activity that is open to all grade 9 and 10 girls. This will be happening on Tuesdays after school and starts Feb 27! Girls did not need to play on the A or B team this season. Come out for some Queen’s Court style games and warm up. More information available when you attend on the 27th.

GRAD 2024

There is a mandatory Grad Assembly on Friday February 23rd at 9:25am! This is a very important meeting as it will discuss all the grad ceremony and grad dinner dance details. Please do not skip this assembly!

CAREER CENTRE

And don't forget to mark your calendars for Tuesday March 5th. Reps from F-SWEP, the Federal Student Work Experience Program will be here at lunch in the Career Centre to talk about the full time PAID full time summer employment opportunities available for high school students interested in trades. More info to come! Stay tuned.

The Youth Engagement Program or "YEP" is hosting the course Emergency First Aid with CPR / AED Level C. This in person, fun, interactive one day course is happening at the SHOAL Centre on Saturday, April 6th. Check the poster on the Career Board for more info and how to register!
