GENERAL SCHOOL NEWS

Wellness Day: Stelly’s has taken on a new comprehensive health initiative this year to provide grade-level topics on mental health & wellness.  These topics have been chosen in response to students voicing their need for knowledge in these areas. Our first Wellness Day is coming up tomorrow! We will have an extended block 3 to listen to the presentations per the schedule below. Those students with a spare should take note as all students will be scheduled into a Wellness session.

Do you know a 2024 Stelly’s Graduate? Please let them know that their high school diploma is now available in the school’s main office for pickup!

Are you interested in going on a fabulous adventure to Portugal and Spain this upcoming March? Please go see Ms. Lizama in room 49 to pick up an information package

School photos can be ordered online, but if you are submitting your order manually, the form and money are due to the office by Friday, October 11th.

October 10 - Wellness Day (adjusted block times, please see above. Participation is expected from everyone.)

October 14 - Thanksgiving Day (school closed)

October 16 - Harvest Hoedown Dance 6:30 -  9:30pm. Tickets are $5 each and available to buy from October 8th to 16th in the main foyer at lunch. Don’t miss out!

October 18 - Student Vote (in Learning Commons during blocks 1 and 2)

October 25 - Non-Instructional Day (no classes in session)

October 29 - Photo Retake Day

ATHLETICS

Congratulations to our Senior Girls Volleyball team went undefeated last night at their home games against Mt. Doug, SMUS & St. Andrews! Way to go Stingers!

There will be a short meeting in the large gym today at the start of lunch for ANY girls who are interested in playing basketball this year.

The Junior Girls Maroon team has an upcoming tournament on October 18th.

GRAD 2025

Kings College, located in Halifax and known for their Journalism program, will be here during lunch break today to speak with interested students about life at Kings. Look for them in the main foyer. 

Grad Spirit Day is coming up on Friday! Bring your belongings to school in “Anything but a backpack”.

October 17 - Grad Parent Information Session from 6 - 7:30pm 

Grad photo days are coming soon (October 23 to November 1st, by appointment). Stay tuned for details!

CAREER CENTRE

Volunteer at the Bayside Learning Commons. Mme. Shuh from Bayside is seeking student volunteers to help shelve books and process new materials. Do you have a spare with a few hours a week to give and are you looking to gain some experience in a library? Apply! There are more excellent volunteer opportunities posted on the Career Ed website.

The University of Alberta Getaway contest is happening again! If you're keen to attend U of A, and you're in Grade 11, you could win a free trip to Edmonton to discover life firsthand as a U of A student. Check out the details HERE

UVic is hosting an Open House on Friday, October 25th from 4-5pm for all interested in the Bachelor of Child & Youth Care Degree Program. Register HERE

Experience what it's like to be part of the Canadian Navy at "Sailor For A Day". This event is held on Oct 25th (Pro D Day) and is free for youth. Get your ticket HERE!

To report your student absent or late, please email stellys_attendance@saanichschools.ca (and CC the appropriate teachers, if possible) or phone in to 250-652-4401 and select option 1. Please note that student attendance is recorded as excused if we receive communication from a parent/guardian, not when a student signs out during the day, unless we’ve heard from you.
