GENERAL SCHOOL NEWS

Please be aware that a large cougar was spotted this morning along the beach at Stelly’s Cross Rd. Please stay alert and follow cougar safety tips: wildsafebc.com/species/cougar (If you encounter a cougar, stop, stay calm, do not turn your back and do not run. Maintain eye contact, look big, yell, be assertive and back away slowly)

Book club will meet in the Learning Commons today at lunch.

The Social Studies department is hosting an All Candidates Debate for the upcoming Provincial Election TODAY in blocks 3 and 4, come to the MPR to hear from the three candidates for the Saanich North and the Islands electoral district. Check with your teachers to see if your class is attending or if you can come on your own to learn about the people who want to be your representative in our provincial government.

Do you know a 2024 Stelly’s Graduate? Please let them know that their high school diploma is now available in the school’s main office for pickup!

Are you interested in going on a fabulous adventure to Portugal and Spain this upcoming March? Please go see Ms Lizama in room 49 to pick up an information package

Student photo proofs and ID cards were distributed this morning in their block 1 class. Please disregard today’s deadline indicated on the packages as it has been extended until next Friday, October 11th.

October 8 - Parents Advisory Council Meeting at 6:30pm (in-person in the Learning Commons or virtually via MS Teams) - come on out and join in the discussion and decisions on how we’re going to support our students in their educational & extra-curricular paths.

Congratulations to the Stelly's Gold Volleyball Team who went undefeated last night beating Royal Bay and Reynolds and splitting sets with Oak Bay. Go Stingers!

CAREER CENTRE

There are some awesome volunteering opportunities available right now! Join the Greater Victoria Green Team for multiple initiatives over the next few months around the lower island. Join the team to meet people, try something new, and help improve the environment.

Peninsula Celebrations Society is seeking volunteers as well, to help with the upcoming events! Interested in lending a hand for these fun community events? CLICK HERE!

For those interested in exploring careers in the Canadian Armed Forces, representatives will be here on Monday, October 7th for an information session in the Career Centre at Lunch Time. All are welcome.   

A reminder that Kim Basi and Central Saanich police officer Tristan Gentile are coming to Stelly's TODAY at lunch for the info session about Police Camp in the Career Centre. See you there at lunch break.

SISP INTERNATIONAL PROGRAM STUDENTS

Friday October 4 - Whale Watching - SISP has arranged for a school bus to take all whale watching students from Stelly's down to the catamaran dock. Students going whale watching are to meet Ms. Kim Ewer at the front of the school at 10:20 am to board the bus.

Please note that student attendance is recorded as excused if we receive communication from a parent/guardian, not when a student signs out during the day, unless we’ve heard from you.
