GENERAL SCHOOL NEWS

BIPOC & Allies club will be meeting at lunchtime today in the conference room

Staff and students come out and race around Turtle Island and try to escape colonization. Today at lunch in the Learning Commons you are invited to come  play the board game Truth and Reconciliation  developed by a Vancouver Island-based creator. The game will start at 11:20.

It’s the last day to purchase orange t-shirts! The Indigenous leadership class will be selling orange t-shirts in the main foyer today at lunch for Orange Shirt Day. The cost is $15.

The Social Studies department is hosting an All Candidates Debate for the upcoming Provincial Election.  On Thursday, October 3 in blocks 3 and 4, come to the MPR to hear from the three candidates for the Saanich North and the Islands electoral district.  Check with your teachers to see if your class is attending or if you can come on your own to learn about the people who want to be your representative in our provincial government.

Are you interested in going on a fabulous adventure to Portugal and Spain this upcoming March? Please go see Ms Lizama in room 49 to pick up an information package

October 8 - Parents Advisory Council Meeting at 6:30pm (in-person in the Learning Commons or virtually via MS Teams) - come on out and join in the discussion and decisions on how we’re going to support our students in their educational & extra-curricular paths.

GRAD 2025

BOTTLE DRIVE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED for the Grad 2025 Dry Grad Bottle Drive this Saturday, Sept 28th from 9am-12pm!  We are looking for student and parent volunteers. Students can receive up to 4 hours of volunteer time each bottle drive. If you would like to help out, please email Kim at kimmik@telus.net.

Congratulations to the Senior Boys Soccer team who played yesterday!

Good luck to our Senior Girls Volleyball team who are off to a tournament at Douglas College in New Westminster!

CAREER CENTRE

Thanks for your patience as we get your Work Experience booklets ready now that we are in our space. Soon to come! 

Camosun is hosting Health Exploration day for Grade 12's keen on exploring careers in health care and are interested in taking a Dual Credit course to get a jump start on the course load. The date is Wednesday, October 16th and it runs 9:30am to noon. Interested? Forms are in the Career Centre.

BC's next election is scheduled for October 19th. Did you know that Elections BC is hiring high school students as election officials? Pay is $325 per day! If you're 15 and older, interested in community service, impartial and good with technology you should check it out!
