GENERAL SCHOOL NEWS

“STELLY’S NIGHT OF PERFORMING ARTS”  is happening TODAY, Thursday, June 15th at 7pm. Tickets are $5 at the door and doors open at 6:30pm.  Performances from intermediate/advanced dance, musical theatre and Stelly’s musicians. Come on Out and Enjoy!

 

Stelly's Global Perspectives 11 is hosting another “ICE CREAM SALE FUNDRAISER” this Friday, June 16th! Located behind the school, near the climbing gym, during lunch hour. Cash and card accepted.   Prices range from $1 to $2. All proceeds will be donated to Our Place. See you there!

 

GRAD WALK OF HONOUR is this Friday, June 16th in block 4 followed by an ice cream social for all grads and staff.  

 

Textiles Arts students will be hosting a “Reworked Denim Sale” during LUNCH break on TUESDAY,  June 20th.   Prices will range from ($10 - $15) and all earnings will go back into the program.  All the jeans have been made and redesigned by fellow students, so feel free to come by and support your friends and peers!!  Also, FREE Rack will be loaded with new items and available at the sale.


EVENTS

VIU's Political Studies Department presents "An Introduction to Power, Politics and the Public Interest". This course has no pre-requisite and is offered in a blended delivery mode - in person OR on Zoom. Does this interest you? Check the poster on the Career Board!

 

Have you heard about the Beacon Community Services Youth Engagement Program? Do you want to get involved with your community, learn some new skills and find employment - while meeting new friends and having fun? Come learn more at our BBQ kickoff party! It's happening Tuesday July 4th from 11:30am -2pm at Shoal Centre. You should come! 

 

Fulfill your required volunteer hours for high school graduation by helping a child to learn to ride a bike!   iCan Bike is looking for volunteers to help children with cognitive and or physical challenges to learn how to learn how to ride a two wheeler. This camp happens during the week of July 10-14th at Panorama. Come take part in this valuable volunteer experience providing emotional, motivational and physical support!

 

GRAD 2023

Final Grad Rehearsal is TODAY at Lunch in the large gym.  All grads participating in the UVIC Ceremony must attend!  See Ms Tamboline if you are unable to attend this rehearsal.

Dry Grad Ticket Sales & Clothing Drop Off:   Tickets are $10 each for grads and approved guests – cash or e-transfer to stellysgrad23@gmail.com (be sure to include the name of each individual ticket holder payment is for in the message field).  Tickets will be sold in person:   June  19, 20 during lunch hour and June 14, 15, 21, 22 during clothing drop off between 8:15-8:45AM.  Questions? GRAD 2024  DRY GRAD BOTTLE DRIVE FOR THE GRADS of 2024 starts Saturday, June 24! The bottle drives will be the fourth Saturday of every month (including the summer) from 9am-12pm.  We are looking for student and parent volunteers.   Students can receive 4 hours volunteer time each bottle drive. We are especially looking for a volunteer with a truck!  If you would like to help out, please email Keely at keely.kastrukoff@gmail.com 

GRAD CEREMONY TICKETS:  Have you received your GRAD CEREMONY TICKETS YET???  UVic has emailed them to students’ school district email accounts. If you have not received them, please see Jocelyne Pryer in the main office as you are likely missing a Grad Requirement!!!  Extra tickets are on Sale NOW and are available by calling UVIC TICKET CENTRE at 250-721-8480 or in person.  Extra Tickets are $10 each and can be paid with Visa or M/C or in person by Cash & Debit as well.

CAREER CENTRE

The Peninsula Country Market needs volunteers! Come lend a hand supporting the free play and educational activities in the Kids Zone! The Market runs over the summer from 9am-1pm at the Saanich Fairgrounds and is full of fresh produce, live music and locally crafted goods. We'd love to have you join the volunteer team of this community event. Career board has all the sign up info. See ya there!

 

Looking for a meaningful summer job? Are you skilled and passionate about connecting with local youth and up for liaising with businesses and various members of the community? The Youth Engagement Program is hiring a program assistant! You'd work over the summer - Tuesday-Saturday, 35 hours per week out of Shoal Centre. Minimum grade 11 students may apply for this awesome opportunity - application forms and more info in the Career Centre.
