GENERAL SCHOOL NEWS

Stelly's Global Perspectives 11 will be selling ICE CREAM TODAY behind the school by the climbing gym during lunch hour for a fundraiser. Prices will range from 50 cents to 2 dollars and all proceeds will be donated to Our Place. We hope to see you there!

Stelly’s Senior Musical Production “Once Upon a Mattress”  is happening TONIGHT and Tomorrow at 1pm and 7pm on Saturday! Tickets available online and at the door. Tickets are $15 each. Come on out and enjoy this Fabulous Musical!!

EVENTS

Have you heard about the Beacon Community Services Youth Engagement Program? Do you want to get involved with your community, learn some new skills and find employment - while meeting new friends and having fun? Come learn more at our BBQ kickoff party! It's happening Tuesday July 4th from 11:30am -2pm at Shoal Centre. You should come! 

“I CAN BIKE” is seeking volunteers to help as runners & spotters for kiddos that are part of our “ICANBIKE Program” - learning how to ride two-wheelers July 10-14th at Panorama.  If you're still looking for volunteer hours and are bike savvy - or not! - please consider helping out, it's sure to be a great time. 

Hey Stelly’s ! Are you passionate about Thrifting, Recycled or Vintage clothing? The Stelly’s Global 11 students are hosting a clothing swap next Wednesday at lunch in the dining room. Bring your items to the dining room on Tuesday, June 13th at lunch. Come swap or shop for retired clothing and enjoy some refreshments! All clothing is appreciated! Please make sure clothing is washed and undamaged. All remaining clothing will be donated to Diabetes Canada. Hope to see you there!

 

GRAD 2023

Final Grad Rehearsal is next Thursday June 15th @ Lunch in the large gym.  All grads participating in the UVIC Ceremony must attend!  See Ms Tamboline if you are unable to attend this rehearsal.

Dry Grad Ticket Sales & Clothing Drop Off:   Tickets are $10 each for grads and approved guests – cash or e-transfer to stellysgrad23@gmail.com (be sure to include the name of each individual ticket holder payment is for in the message field).  Tickets will be sold in person:   June 12, 13, 19, 20 during lunch hour and June 14, 15, 21, 22 during clothing drop off between 8:15-8:45AM.  Questions? GRAD 2024!   DRY GRAD BOTTLE DRIVE FOR THE GRADS of 2024 starts Saturday, June 24! The bottle drives will be the fourth Saturday of every month (including the summer) from 9am-12pm.  We are looking for student and parent volunteers.   Students can receive 4 hours volunteer time each bottle drive. We are especially looking for a volunteer with a truck!  If you would like to help out, please email Keely at keely.kastrukoff@gmail.com 

GRAD CEREMONY TICKETS  Have you received your GRAD CEREMONY TICKETS YET???  UVic has emailed them to students’ school district email accounts. If you have not received them, please see Jocelyne Pryer in the main office as you are likely missing a Grad Requirement!!!  Extra tickets are on Sale NOW and are available by calling UVIC TICKET CENTRE at 250-721-8480 or in person.  Extra Tickets are $10 each and can be paid with Visa or M/C or in person by Cash & Debit as well.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Victoria Foundation has generously provided a $30,000 grant to our Youth Access Fund to enable youth in Victoria, BC to attend Outward Bound Canada (OBC) courses on full scholarships applicable for our 2023 summer expeditions.

CAREER CENTRE

The Peninsula Country Market needs volunteers! Come lend a hand supporting the free play and educational activities in the Kids Zone! The Market runs over the summer from 9am-1pm at the Saanich Fairgrounds and is full of fresh produce, live music and locally crafted goods. We'd love to have you join the volunteer team of this community event. Career board has all the sign up info. See ya there!

Looking for a meaningful summer job? Are you skilled and passionate about connecting with local youth and up for liaising with businesses and various members of the community? The Youth Engagement Program is hiring a program assistant! You'd work over the summer - Tuesday-Saturday, 35 hours per week out of Shoal Centre. Minimum grade 11 students may apply for this awesome opportunity - application forms and more info in the Career Centre. 

PISE is hiring high school students for part time work over the summer  to work as Birthday Party Leaders! Earn between $17.7 - $22.75 an hour while creating a fun and inclusive environment for kiddos. Check the job posting on the Career Ed website for more information

GOOD FORTUNE CHINESE RESTAURANT  in Sidney is hiring multiple positions. Earn $15.65/hr plus tips! On top of that you get a free meal every shift. Check the career board for more info!

MARY’S BLEUE MOON CAFE is hiring front of house staff. If you have an outgoing personality and are interested in the hospitality industry, email your resume! Contact info is posted on the Career Board. 

STUDENT WORKS PAINTING is hiring summer painters now. Starting wage is $20/hr and earn up to $30/hr once trained. Painting is a great skill to learn, it's satisfying work, fun to be outdoors and working with friends is encouraged.

B & C FOOD is located on Keating Cross road and is looking for warehouse workers. Starting wage is $18/hr and no experience is necessary. Part time and full time shifts are available (over summer). General duties include warehouse tasks and there is room for advancement. Apply now!
