GENERAL SCHOOL NEWS

Today at lunch is the last meeting for the students who leave for Europe this Friday!  Please bring any forms or questions you have to room 30.  We will also discuss the Fallen Soldier project.  If you can't make it, but still have questions, see Mrs. Wallace or send her an email.

The next INTERNATIONAL LUNCHEON will be in the Learning Commons on Thursday May 18th.

On Wednesday, May 17th from 4pm-8pm Stelly's students, staff, families and alumni are welcome to join in our “Fill the Hive Food Drive”. This event is a great way to connect with students and staff and is greatly appreciated. If you are able to help out this year walking, driving or packing boxes, please fill out the Google form. Family and friends are welcome to join too!  Each person must be registered separately. Current students please pick up a field trip form from the office. CPF Maple Syrup Fundraiser -  Support our SWEET fundraiser!  All profits will help us offer fun French learning opportunities for our students in Saanich. Treat your loved ones or yourself! Stock up on our authentic maple syrup - direct from Quebec - to enhance your yummy breakfast, lunch or dinner treats!  Please order and pay before May 21st by e-transfer to cpf.saanich@gmail.com     Please add your contact details - email address, phone number and your child's school to your e-transfer message. An invoice along with pickup instructions will be emailed to you after submitting the form. Fun field trip alert! Coast Guard Days at the Canadian Coast Guard Facility is happening the first half of the day Thursday, June 1st, 2023 - downtown Victoria. Check out all things Coast Guard careers, including demonstrations, tours and information sessions.  You'll learn about helicopter operations, navigation systems, search and rescue, and vessel tours will all be part of this exciting day. Field trip forms are available in the Career Centre and are due May 26th. Hope you can come!

Rifflandia Entertainment Co is introducing "The Monster", the world's largest inflatable obstacle course, and we need student volunteers to help run it! The dates are June 8-11 and you receive two free ticket codes to Rifflandia for every shift you complete! If you're into music fests and having a great time - jump on this awesome opportunity!

GRAD 2023

Victoria Foundation has generously provided a $30,000 grant to our Youth Access Fund to enable youth in Victoria, BC to attend Outward Bound Canada (OBC) courses on full scholarships applicable for our 2023 summer expeditions.

ATTN Grade 12 students …. An UPDATED ELIGABILTY LIST to participate in the recognition ceremony is now posted outside the counselling office in the main foyer. Please check the list for your student #.   If your student # is missing …. Please see Jocelyne Pryer in the main office!

Support Stelly’s Dry Grad 2023 with a FAIRWAY FUNDRAISING CARD!    How it works: Any time you shop at Fairway between now and the end of June, load money onto your Fairway card, and use it to pay for your groceries. Fairway will donate an amount equal to 5% of the total loaded to Dry Grad 2023. There is no cost to you.  Fairway Cards  are available in the office.

CAREER CENTRE

ḰELSET Elementary School is seeking volunteers to help run their Spring Fair, happening Friday May 26th from 5-8pm. Shifts can be an hour and a half or longer and run from 3pm-8. Help is needed for set up and take down as well as managing various stations at the event. Earn those volunteer hours while having fun and helping the ḰELSET kiddos have an amazing Spring Fair!

It's that time of year again, this May long weekend it's the 160th Annual Highland Games celebrating Scottish and Celtic Culture! They're looking for awesome volunteers - like you! Perks of volunteering include free admission, free lunch and a T Shirt! Shifts are limited so sign up quick. Check the Career Ed Website for more info.

Starbucks is actively hiring and here's the best news, they are hosting an in person hiring fair on Tuesday, May 16th from 2-6pm. This is happening at their Broadmead Location at 777 Royal Oak Drive. Bring your resume and be prepared to be interviewed right on the spot as managers will on site. 

Student Works Painting is hiring summer painters now. Starting wage is $20/hr and earn up to $30/hr once trained. Painting is a great skill to learn, it's satisfying work, fun to be outdoors and working with friends is encouraged.

B & C Food is located on Keating Cross road and is looking for warehouse workers. Starting wage is $18/hr and no experience is necessary. Part time and full time shifts are available (over summer). General duties include warehouse tasks and there is room for advancement. Apply now!

Are you an Excel whiz? Want to make $25/hr? Jaylyn Jewelers in Sidney needs you! They are seeking a reliable student to create Contract Calculators in Excel. The chosen candidate will work closely with their team to develop calculators that will be used to analyze contract costs for their product.

Aspiring trades people - listen up! The Kinetic Youth Employment Program sponsors young workers in the Skill Trades BC, Youth Work in Trades program and applications are now open! They provide trades gear, specialized courses, mentorship and customized training. Chosen candidates will earn $22/hr and it's offered to full time placements only. Applications are available in the Career Centre. 

Are you passionate about science or engineering? Science venture is looking for Junior counsellors to volunteer with our team to help lead STEM summer camps! Application deadline is May 30th and all the info you need is on the career board.

Tim Hortons in Sidney is hiring reliable and energetic staff to join their team at the Beacon Ave location in Sidney. They offer staff meals, health care benefits, and a friendly environment. Come to the Career Centre and grab an application and drop it off with your resume - they are short staffed and hiring now!

The Victoria Therapeutic Riding Association is seeking volunteers for their summer camp programs to help with both horses and camp participants. This is a great opportunity to assist those with disabilities to enjoy a horse riding experience. Whether or not you are a horse person, you're invited to help use horseback riding as therapy for those who need it most. As always, more info is available on the Career Ed website!

Samual Barclay Painting is looking for door to door canvassers to source leads for paint jobs. This is a great way to enter into the world of sales by building confidence and sales skills. It's a part time position with flexible hours offering $20-$27 dollars an hour. If you're enthusiastic and have strong communication skills this could be an awesome part time gig! The Surly Mermaid Restaurant is hiring hosts. They offer minimum wage plus tips, an awesome team and management and room for advancement to serving and bartending. Duties include greeting and seating customers in an efficient and friendly manner, cleaning and setting tables and running food. Drop by with your resume or apply online through Indeed.com

CARPENTERS AND ASPIRING CARPENTERS! The Plan A Summer Youth Employment Program provides paid work experience to students interested in a career in carpentry. It's a full-time summer placement with deadlines soon approaching but it's not too late! Check the career board for more information!!! Such an awesome opportunity to earn money while learning all about what it's actually like to work as a carpenter.
