GENERAL SCHOOL NEWS

Stelly’s Spring Dance is happening TONIGHT in the MPR from 7pm to 9:30pm. LAST CHANCE to get your Tickets TODAY at lunch!.  Everyone is invited! Join us for music, dancing, games and more!!

Tomorrow is Red Dress Day, a day of recognition for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirited People.  Indigenous Leadership students will be selling red dress pins at lunch to raise money for the Lil'Red Dress project. Please wear red to show your support.

Info and forms for Paddle Club are available on the door of Rm 20. Sign up for our first paddle on Friday, May 5th!

On May 17th from 4pm-8pm Stelly's students, staff, families and alumni are welcome to join in our “Fill the Hive Food Drive”. This event is a great way to connect with students and staff and is greatly appreciated. If you are able to help out this year walking, driving or packing boxes, please fill out the Google form. Family and friends are welcome to join too!  Each person must be registered separately. Current students please pick up a field trip form from the office. Studio 63, SD63's teaching salon at the Saanichton Learning Centre, is open for business! Walk-ins are Welcome, and they provide hair cuts, styles, colour and highlights, and luxurious scalp massages. More info is on the career board to make an appointment. Treat yourself, you deserve it!

The Pacific Institute for Sports Excellence aka PISE is looking for volunteers for their Family Sport and Recreation Festival this Saturday, May 6th. This is a great opportunity for students looking to gain volunteer hours for graduation. If interested, check the career centre board!

The TD Art Gallery paint in on Moss Street is the largest summer arts festival on the island, and it's looking for volunteers! Earn your community hours for graduation while having fun and supporting the arts.  More info on the career board!

Another exciting volunteering opportunity! The Brentwood Bay Association is seeking volunteers to help out with events like "Music in the Park", "Brentwood Bay Festival", parades and the Christmas Light Display. Join the fun in your home community. Check the career info board for more information!

All SCHOLARSHIP MEETINGS are at lunchtime in the Learning Commons. The Next meeting is  next Wednesday, May 10th at lunch in the Learning Commons.  Bee there if you can!!  

CAREER CENTRE

Operation Trackshoes is looking for volunteers to help kids with developmental disabilities. You would be providing support for athletes in wheelchairs, as well as fun and recreational events appropriate for all ages and levels of ability. The event runs June 9-11 - and training starts May 8th - so act quick. Application packages are available in the Career Centre and there is a poster on the Career Board with more info.

Samual Barclay Painting is looking for door to door canvassers to source leads for paint jobs. This is a great way to enter into the world of sales by building confidence and sales skills. It's a part time position with flexible hours offering $20-$27 dollars an hour. If you're enthusiastic and have strong communication skills this could be an awesome part time gig! ATTN Grade 12 students …. The eligibility list to participate in the Recognition Ceremony is now posted outside the counselling office in the main foyer. Please check the list for your student #.   If your student # is missing …. Please see Jocelyn Pryer in the main office!

Support Stelly’s Dry Grad 2023 with a FAIRWAY FUNDRAISING CARD!    How it works: Any time you shop at Fairway between now and the end of June, load money onto your Fairway card, and use it to pay for your groceries. Fairway will donate an amount equal to 5% of the total loaded to Dry Grad 2023. There is no cost to you.  Fairway Cards  are available in the office.

Stelly's Dry After-Grad is hosting  2  paint nights at McTavish Academy of Art.  Happening this  Friday, May 5th from 6-9pm and Sat, May 6th from 1-4pm.  $45/person   https://mctavishacademy.ca/product/stellys-fundraiser/     There are only 40 seats available per evening, so sign up ASAP to reserve your seat. This event is open to the public so bring your friends and family, everyone welcome!
