GENERAL SCHOOL NEWS

Interested in kayaking or paddle boarding? Come to Rm 20 at lunch on Wednesday to learn more about Paddling club or see Matheson if you have questions.

Are you considering a career as a nurse? Listen up! A representative from Ravensview, a local, private facility right here on the Peninsula that provides medically based services for mental health and addictions is coming tomorrow, Wednesday April 12th, to chat about a what it's like to work as a nurse at Ravensview. That's tomorrow at 11:15 in the Career Centre!

Spring plant sales! Last fundraising chance for the Grad Dinner/Dance! Each item sold reduces your dinner/dance ticket price by $5. Talk to your friends and family about buying their veggie starts and hanging baskets through us. See the post in the Grad Google Classroom or else paper order forms can be picked up from the grad board. Orders and money are due on Tuesday, April 25th. Any Questions? See Ms Tamboline.

EVENTS

Information Session on New K-12 Student Reporting Policy is happening on Tuesday, April 18th at 7:00 p.m. (until 8:00 p.m.) for Parents and Caregivers.   It is happening on Microsoft Teams Meeting. Join on your computer or mobile app Click here to join Our purpose is to Receive information on:  Why is my child not getting a letter grade?  How will I know how my child is doing?  What is descriptive feedback?  How will I know if my child is on track to graduate?

Island Ignite is a mentorship camp for young women that includes team building activities and firefighting tasks - with a major focus on FUN! Island Ignite is FREE and will leave you feeling empowered and inspired. Check out ISLAND IGNITE DOT COM for more information - applications are due May 1st. Support Stelly’s Dry Grad 2023 with a FAIRWAY FUNDRAISING CARD! How it works: Any time you shop at Fairway between now and the end of June, load money onto your Fairway card, and use it to pay for your groceries. Fairway will donate an amount equal to 5% of the total loaded to Dry Grad 2023. There is no cost to you.  Fairway cards will be sent home with all the grads on Thursday, April 13th, 2023.. More cards are available in the office.

Another exciting volunteering opportunity! The Brentwood Bay Association is seeking volunteers to help out with events like "Music in the Park", "Brentwood Bay Festival", parades and the Christmas Light Display. Join the fun in your home community. Check the career info board for more information! 

Women and Trades and Technology is happening Thursday, April 20th at Camosun. It's an amazing opportunity to learn about the trades and tech programs and take part in hands on activities! Free lunch provided. Permission forms are available now in the Career Centre and due Thursday, April 13th. It's going to be super fun - come join!

Island Health Step Up Youth Volunteer Program is now accepting applications! Beat the rush and apply now for this competitive and rewarding volunteer program. Pop by the Career Centre for more information and help with your application.

Still looking for that perfect summer job? Are you athletic and like working with kids? Check this out - Panorama is hiring summer sports camp leaders and assistants for both their multi-sport camp and tennis camps running all summer long. Shifts are 5 hours Monday to Friday - earn between $21-$24 an hour! Check the CRD website for more info.

If you're looking to gain volunteer hours for your CLC class or work experience, are interested in organic farming and love animals, we have the perfect opportunity for you! Prohibition Vineyard is looking for volunteers to help out on their small scale farm. Come work in the vegetable garden, with the sheep, chicken and more! For more info - check the career board!

The Pacific Institute for Sports Excellence aka PISE is looking for volunteers for their Family Sport and Recreation Festival on Saturday, May 6th. This is a great opportunity for students looking to gain volunteer hours for graduation. If interested, check the career centre board!

The Saanich Peninsula / Shoreline Medical Youth Health Clinic is recruiting new volunteers for their Peer Health Educator Program. If you're interested in becoming an ambassador for sexual health, check the Career Centre Information Board!

GRAD 2023

Stelly's Dry After-Grad is hosting 2 paint nights at McTavish Academy of Art.  Happening on Friday, May 5th from 6-9pm and Sat, May 6th from 1-4pm.  $45/personhttps://mctavishacademy.ca/product/stellys-fundraiser/ There are only 40 seats available per evening, so sign up ASAP to reserve your seat. This event is open to the public so bring your friends and family, everyone welcome!

 Grad Scrap Metal Fundraiser: Drop regular scrap metal off at Stelly’s between April 22 to April 30. NOTE: Manned hours (for help lifting) Saturday April 22 & Saturday April 29 between 9AM to NOON.  For the “expensive metals” aluminum; brass; copper. Items can also be dropped directly to Williams Scrap metal (donate to Stelly’s account). Please email stellysgrad23@gmail.com to arrange for larger items or expensive metals during unmanned hours, or if you have any questions!
